RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory

The Ocean Theory course sovers the art of celestial navigation, required for candidates wishing to work towards the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competency. Elements covered include, setting up sextant, taking and reducing sights. Following the course candidates are required to complete a 600nm ocean passage and submit their sights and workings to the RYA for issue of their licence.

The successful candidate will receive:

• RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased Certificate

12 March; 13 August; 26 November

7 days.

 

Class Size:

Maximum course numbers = 10

 

Entry Requirement:

Candidates should have a sound knowledge of coastal and offshore navigation and sailing, and ideally hold an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate.

Fees:

Domestic students (NZ and Australian citizens): NZ$1,725 including GST

 

Student Benefits:

Student loans and allowances are not available for this package.

 

Accreditation:

This course is accredited with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) of Southampton, UK.
